Richmond Union 2nd Eleven Grand Final Result
Date of Event : Wed Mar 21, 2018 10:28PM

Congratulations to the Richmond Union's  2nd Eleven who won their Grand Final against Old Carey CC on Saturday/Sunday March 17th at Citizens Park. Carey won the toss and batted. Richmond got them all out for 134 in the 61st over. Excellent bowling performances by Ivan Reljic, Harry Rainbow, Drew Jones and workman like performances by Ezra Janetzki and Scott Musgrove bough Old Carey's innings to a insufficient end. Richmond batted and at the end of the first day were two down and looked to be in a good position.

The next day was far from stress free, three early wickets fell and suddenly Richmond was 5/31, looking shaky, at this point Phil Pullar and Joel were at the crease. These two blokes steadily built up the runs with Phil scoring 49 and Joel 27. Old Carey threw everything they could at them to no avail. Eventually Phil was out caught, replaced by Ivan making a solid 19, hitting the winning boundary and giving Richmond Union the Grand Final.

We had a great turnout at the club to watch a tense game, the best cricket. At the end of the game the whole club went out to the center of Citizens Parks, formed a circle and sang our mighty tigers song as a group, ending a great season.

With regrets, this will be Phil Pullar's last game at Richmond Union, his moving up to Queensland for work. Over the last 18 years at different points Phil has been the club coach, 1st and 2nd's Captain and a premium turf player for the club. In the early 2000's his coaching was a critical contribution to our success in those turf grades and subsequent Grand Final victories. We wish him well in his new home and thank him for his great service to the club.
